Obviously suffering from the same silly season mentality as many of us, CNET runs through what it considers the top ten web fads. We're not sure Blogger is quite the same thing as the Star Wars Kid or JibJab, and we'd also add the musical cats at rathergood.com (the comments to the original story contain other good suggestions).

Dealing with an Old-School Webmaster

The OK/Cancel boys somehow manage to combine a funny cartoon with an interesting article on dealing with what could be described as 'legacy fleshware' - an old-school webmaster who is more interested in rotating gifs and defending their territory than improving the website for which they're responsible.

Microsoft deletes Apple

The folks at Redmond have just released their impressive MSN Virtual Earth mapping system (similar to Google Maps). Just one thing: a search for Apple's HQ in Cupertino shows a satellite image of a hole in the ground. Google's service shows the Jobs site in all its glory. Microsoft say they're just using older satellite imagery (more than 10 years out of date), but we're not so sure.

Open Source Beer

If you thought Wikipedia was a good idea, you'll love what students at the IT University of Copenhagen have been up to. They're releasing the recipe and branding for their beer under a Creative Commons License, encouraging people to improve the final product with their own changes.
