Laurence Veale / Lead Analyst

Lar's expertise spans the project spectrum; he has been part of the business development and marketing teams, as well as UX lead and content strategist for many projects.

His most recent projects are as broad as his expertise. With Colin, he ran a conversion optimisation and multi-variant testing for Vodafone, as well as an extensive user testing project for Independent News and Media, to fully inform a new business model for online media.

He also worked with John and Brian on an eLearning application for Houghton Mifflin Harcourt as well as acted as design and sales lead for a VHI research project.

Since joining iQ, Lar has been a prolific blogger, speaker, trainer, and evangelist for accessibility, usability, good design and good writing.

In his former life, he was a senior software developer, working on complex internal banking systems. But he found that usability and user-centred design was missing from the process. “We were developing a system to be used by branch staff but without real insight into how or why it was to be used. Having seen and managed the support queries, a lot of them were of a "I can't use this system" variety.

Outside work, his number one interest is family. He spends as much time as possible with his wife, sons Milo and Monty and his daughter Poppy. And he’s our resident wine guru – you can find talking about all kinds of wine at sourgrapes.ie.
