How we give back
We believe in investing in our community
Here are some of the ways that we give back to the community each year.
Intern Programme
In 2011 we commenced our first paid summer intern programme, giving four recent graduates the chance to acquire real-world skills by mentoring them through a design project. The team worked over 12 weeks to create a web-app which spiders content on the web.
Computer Clubhouse
Over the past two years we've supported The Computer Clubhouse, which provides a creative and safe after-school learning environment for young people from under-served communities in Dublin's south-west inner city area.
Unlike a standard computer classroom, The Computer Clubhouse is a vibrant environment, with elements of an artist's studio, inventor’s workshop, TV newsroom, architect's office, robotics lab, and music studio.
Local web and design events
We support a number of locally-based community groups and meetups involved with design and the web. Some of the events we contribute to on a regular basis are Refresh Dublin, Pubstandards, Defuse Dublin and IxDA Dublin.
iQ Labs
Every now and then we tackle non-client projects - last year we helped the Dublin Event Guide get mobilised (keep an eye out for it, it's launching very soon!).
24theweb
For the past two years running we've encouraged our staff to take part in 24theweb - an initiative to create a website for charity in 24 hours. Last year six members from iQ Content were involved in creating a website for Almost Home - a charity devoted to rehoming animals in danger of being put down.
24 Hour Universal Design Challenge
Each year we also encourage staff to take part in the 24 Hour Universal Design Challenge - where teams work together with a sponsor who has a disability in order to come up with design solutions to make Dublin accessible to everyone regardless of ability or disability.
iQ Prize
In 2009 we held the very first iQ Prize - a competition where we gave away €10,000 to the best business plan from an Irish online startup.
