Some invest in usability to earn more money. Some to reduce cost. Some to improve communication.
A bit of investment in this area from An Garda Síochána could help reduce crime.
“While the Garda’s computer database, Pulse, was full of information, the data was often difficult to access and the system was not ‘user-friendly’.
…[A] police force should not need to wait for crime trends, including gangland, to develop over long periods before they are identified.”
Factna, we are ready and willing to help when called on (with your website too!)

Watching the most recent James Bond film where they explore information using a fancy multitouch screen. The most unrealistic part was not the ability to access information, or the technology itself. The most unrealistic thing was the idea that the government would invest sufficient time and money on the design and user experience to make it look and feel the way it did.

Interesting. Hadn’t noticed Garda.ie got a make over. It is an improvement on what was there, but they do need more overtime in the ux battle.

Wow! The guards must be using some kind of listening device on me. When I posted that blog post the old site was still up. The new website must have gone live in the last few days.
Overall, much improved – though it is blue … very blue.

Special services coders probably have an auto-deign flair setting as standard! Honestly, WHY comment on an action film (let alone a James Bond) being unrealistic!
