Our turn to provide some tips on getting by now that the “Big R” us upon us!
Last summer at the Festival of World Cultures, I was introduced by a good friend to Joerg Steegmueller, friendly German (but adopted Irish!) dude, who is a member of the Gardiner Street Gospel Choir and who also runs the ”Dublin Event Guide (for Free Events)” newsletter.
It is the newsletter I want to tell you about today. It lists a huge variety of free events in Dublin, everything from art exhibitions, to free gigs, to seminars to kids events. There is genuinely something for everyone.
Joerg compiles the newsletter himself every week and sends it out every Friday morning and all completely voluntarily – I don’t know how he finds the time to go to the events himself to be honest!
So, the important bit:
- To subscribe, just send a mail to dublineventguide@gmail.com
- There’s a group on Facebook where you can view the most recent newsletter and join in the discussion
Anyone got any other good “Recession tips” they want to share?

My tip would be to increase your prices by 10-15% due to “the current economic climate and the ever increasing costs of doing business”.
