Using Google Video to suggest a change to Google Reader user interface

Previously this month, I posted on Bloglines versus Google Reader, comparing the two RSS Readers. Since then, Google have made it a much better

Having used Google Reader for over two weeks now now I love it. However, there is one area where I think the user experience could be improved. This time, I’m using Google Video to show and tell.

Adding a new subscription or RSS feed to Google Reader

Adding a new feed is really easy in Google Reader. However, categorising a newly added feed is still a bit of a pain.

  1. I have to go to “Settings” or “Manage subscriptions”
  2. Then I have to scroll down through a long list of my feeds to find my newest – often I’m not sure of the name of the new feed, only the URL so this can be a real pain
  3. Then, when I eventually do find it, I can add it to the folder or folders I want.

Why not categorise at the add subscription step?

When adding a feed, why not allow me to specify the folder too? It’s just one extra input field and could save me a load of time. What do you think?
