I’m sure at this point everyone is familiar with Google’s email app Gmail, and the way it’s revolutised online email.
Google are also looking to the corporate market for email users, and have been asking for beta testers for a while now.
Well after a few months of waiting we’ve finally got an invite for iqcontent.com to allow everyone here to have a company Gmail account, which for some of us on the road is going to be very useful.

This means effectively having myemail@iqcontent.com email addresses using hosted email from Google.
Previously
Unless you’re running Outlook Web Access or a bespoke webmail application as your web-based email offering, webmail tends to be pretty basic, however this is a huge improvement both in terms of interface and storage – 2GB per person for email, no more dumping those old emails.
Inital impressions
I’ve logged in and taken a look around, the interface and functionality is the same for regular Gmail accounts but it does allow some customisation to it’s interface, changing the logo, and the colour of the login box.
One interesting sidebar I did notice however was the following:

Account plan, up to 30 users – this to me would suggest that there is going to be a not-so-free version, which is understandable for the corporate market which could have 5000+ users on a single domain.
It will be interesting to find out how much they will be charging for larger numbers or will they charge at all? Only time will tell.
I will be doing more investigating over the next week or so to find all the implications of us implementing it on our domain to replace our existing mail service.
